About the Horizon Group

Welcome to
Horizon Group

ISO 9001:2015 Certified
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

Horizon was born amidst the turbulence of war, a time marked by untold suffering and pain for thousands of innocent lives caught in the crossfire. Restoring peace and normalcy to these lives became the central mission for Horizon's founders, leading to the creation of an organization devoted to Post-Conflict Environment Management. Over time, Horizon expanded its focus to include landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance operations.

This evolution led to the establishment of HORIZON (OPCEM) — an organization committed to Post-Conflict Environment Management. Originally formed by Indian ex-servicemen, Horizon has grown into a globally engaged organization that draws on the skills, discipline, and dedication of former military professionals from around the world.

Founded in 2001 by retired officers of the Indian Army, Horizon was envisioned as a platform where demining and post-conflict recovery could be effectively carried out by ex-service personnel, especially those trained as military engineers. Despite the high risks involved, the resilience, experience, and professionalism of soldiers — particularly those from conflict-tested backgrounds — ensure the successful execution of complex and dangerous operations, while generating goodwill and supporting affected communities.

To support its humanitarian mission and enhance operational sustainability, Horizon Assignments (India) Pvt Ltd was established in 2003 as an adjunct to Horizon OPCEM, providing financial support and advancing its service-oriented objectives.

In May 2023, Horizon Safer World Foundation was incorporated as a non-profit organization dedicated to mine and UXO clearance in post-conflict settings, and to the promotion of social and welfare services.

Today, the Horizon Group is a multifaceted global organization operating across multiple countries, offering a wide range of demining services. Guided by its founding vision and strengthened by the expertise of ex-service personnel worldwide, Horizon continues to grow as a trusted partner in conflict recovery and humanitarian response.
